Vermiculture?

Isaac and I have been wanting to start composting for a while, but living in a small house, with relatively no backyard kept us from starting…that is until we discovered vermiculture (composting with redworms). They turn biodegradable kitchen scraps into super nutrient rich fertilizer, and they live in their own composting bin in our garage. There’s no smell, and we’ve actually just starting another worm bin in our backyard to compost our 3 dogs…um…waste. It’s pretty cool! You can find out more about by visiting the Green Culture website.

Salton Sea Trip v.2.0

Here are a few images from our second Salton Sea trip a couple weeks ago. Our first stop was Bombay Beach, which was flooded back in the early 90’s so there are tons of sunken, decaying motor homes and trailers and telephone poles still sticking out of the water. Our next stop was Niland and Salvation Mountain, which is an amazing, amazing folk art piece constructed by one man, Leonard Knight. Leonard built his mountain out of adobe and thousands of gallons of donated paint over the span of two decades as a monument to God’s Love. It’s really quite breathtaking!

The Salton Sea bird sanctuary…

We reached Salvation Mountain right as the sun began to set!
