Seattle + New York

This is just a quick note to let you know that Isaac and I will be in Seattle for the next few days, and then in New York over the weekend! It’s my first time visiting the East Coast, so I’m super excited…and would love any recommendations for places we must visit …or even better…awesome places to eat since we’re major foodies! I’ll have some pics to post soon, so it can be a proper blog post! I’ll be able to check my e-mail every now and then while we’re gone, but all phone messages will be returned when we get back next week.

Michelle Moore - Stephanie, I live in Seattle if you want to grab coffee while you're here! :)

Elena - Stephanie, I am not a New Yorker, but have lived there before for a short time. From short trips back to the city I've done, I'd recommend: 1) The Central Park Boathouse - http://www.thecentralparkboathouse.com/ for Sunday brunch. I do not know how's food there (I am sure should be good), but it is a beautiful place, celebrated in Sex in The City too, http://www.thecentralparkboathouse.com/. 2) you'll find lots of restaurant recommendations here: http://www.yelp.com/c/nyc/restaurants; 3) how about taking Staten Island ferry and back (it's free! :))? You'll see statue of Liberty very-very close, twice, + a magnificent view of Manhattan island. Have a good trip!

Amy Martin - Grimaldi's in Brooklyn for pizza. And you should try Shake Shack- Madison Sq. Park or on the Upper West Side. I think they put crack in their burgers. ;)

Tammy Gonzalez - In NYC, GRAY'S PAPAYA: The Midtown branch at the corner of Eighth Ave. and 37th St. or West 72nd Street and Broadway (this branch is seen in Die Hard with Vengeance, For Love or Money, You've Got Mail and Down to Earth). Some of the best hot dogs in NYC! Make sure to get one with a Papaya drink. WICKED COMBINATION!! Carnegie Deli at 7th Ave and 55th Street! Anything there is amazing! Make sure to go to Central Park around 3pm or so, get an ice-cream or treat at one of the street vendors and just find a nice spot under the canopy and across the lake :)

Alicia - NY is amazing! A few places I recommend: Bethesda Fountain in Central Park, Brooklyn Bridge and Brooklyn Bridge Park (while you're in Dumbo, Brooklyn, you can get Grimaldi's from Amy's suggestion), and also the Brooklyn Heights Promenade is amazing, especially at sunset!

admin - Thanks for all the suggestions - these are great! We're definitely doing Central Park and the Brooklyn Bridge and hopefully a few museums as well. Isaac's a huge thin crust pizza fan, so Grimaldi's sounds like a hit Best wishes, Steph + Isaac

Rebecca - You must stop by Dylan's Candy Bar....if not for the candy, then for the visuals. It is THE coolest candy store you'll ever go to! I also like the Starlight Diner off Broadway. All the waiters/waitresses are Broadway performers, so even though it is just diner food, you will hear some AMAZING impromptu performances by the people who work there. Very fun!

Rebecca - While in NYC you definitely need to try the frozen hot chocolate from Serendipity's, it's delicious! serendipity3.com It's right down the street from Dylan's Candy Bar which I agree you have to check out. Have fun!

Charlene - I lived in NYC for about a year, and found a cute, yummy Italian place in the East Village called Cucina de Pesce. Check out their website: http://cucinadipesce.com/ My mouth is watering already! Charlene P.S. I'm about to email or call you and leave a message. Would LOVE to meet with you about doing my wedding! :-D

Charlene - Ooh yeah! I also 2nd Serendipity!!! Frozen hot chocolate is THE BOMB!!! Also ~ Junior's Cheesecake (apparently with more than one location now)...ohhhh SO GOOD that I ordered the cheesecake for my old NYC roommate for her b-day a few years ago! http://www.juniorscheesecake.com/juniors_cheesecake/Juniors_Cheesecake_Home/Our_Restaurants.php
