Naoko + Taejo | day after session

We had so much fun exploring Hawaii’s North Shore for Naoko + Taejo’s day after session - there are so many gorgeous rural fields and nature areas to discover! On their wedding day, we ended up not having much time with them for romantic shots because the ceremony ran late, so were were very fortunate to have a day after session with them, without any of the wedding day’s time constraints. Not only are Naoko + Taejo chic and stylish, but they are so in love, which makes our job that much easier. Plus, they were up for anything, even *sneaking* across a field to shoot in an enormous field of sunflowers! Props to Naoko for walking half a mile in red dirt, in heels for these shots. Naoko’s first dress is by 3.1 Phillip Lim tied with a vintage belt by Shabon. Both headpieces were hand designed by a Korean designer at Shin Bu Bridal and her shoes are Prada. Also, many thanks to Christen of Nineteen Owls Photography, who gave us the full tour of the North Shore and helped us scout out so many awesome locations!

Naoko + Taejo | wedding

After shooting Naoko + Taejo’s engagement session, we knew their wedding was going to be nothing short of amazing! We flew out to Oahu to document their gorgeous wedding - they were married at the historic Kawaiaha’o Church in Honolulu, and their reception was held at the Moana Surfrider in Waikiki. I instantly fell in love with Naoko’s couture flower headpiece! Her dress and headpiece were custom made by a Korean designer at Shin Bu Bridal. The flowers, by Passion Roots, were lovely and incorporated purple artichoke and lamb’s ear, and the reception was filled with their closest family and friends, lots of laughter, and lots and lots of cameras! I’ll be blogging our adventures on their day after session next, which included a huge field of sunflowers!

Juri + Kei | couple session

While in Oahu shooting Naoko + Taejo’s wedding, we had the opportunity to shoot their friends, Juri + Kei, a super sweet couple from Japan. We had such a blast with them while exploring a banyan forest on the North Shore. We had scouted the area out a few days ahead and fell in love with this one huge banyan tree. Well, when we arrived there the day of the shoot, the set of the tv show Lost had fully moved in on the scene and was filming an episode around the banyan! Luckily, one of my friends from the North Shore knew some of the crew, so we were still able to shoot in the area and around the enormous Lost set! Here are just a few of my favorites from their session….
